As one of the nation’s leading nuclear power plant owners and operators, we’re demonstrating that nuclear power is safe, reliable and cost-effective. Our nuclear power strategy balances the present with the future. We continuously work to safely improve Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, LLCSM (CENG), a joint venture between Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXC) (www.exeloncorp.com) and EDF Group (www.north-america.edf.com). Exelon, through its subsidiaries, owns 50.01 percent of CENGSM and is the nation’s leading competitive energy provider, with operations in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. EDF, through its subsidiaries, owns 49.99 percent of CENG and is developing strategies in North America in three different fields: nuclear, renewables and trading.
CENG, based in Baltimore, Maryland, has a fleet of three nuclear power stations in Maryland and New York with a total of five units. CENG safely and reliably delivers approximately 3.73 percent of the U.S. nuclear industry’s power capacity, serving wholesale customers in competitive energy markets. With approximately 2,700 employees, the fleet produced more than 31.5 million megawatt-hours of electricity in 2010, and achieved an average capability factor of 93.9 percent.
CENG’s nuclear power strategy balances the present with the future and continuously works to safely improve production at its five operating nuclear units while demonstrating that nuclear power is safe, reliable, cost-effective and environmentally responsible.
